EUROPIA Pitch Awards – Call for Submissions


The Europia Conference launches two Pitch Awards for film projects exploring European identity, history, the European Union, and its institutions. We are seeking stories that engage with ideas of European integration and post-national thinking while embracing the richness of Europe’s regional identities, cultures, and traditions. Multilingual projects are particularly encouraged.

We invite projects that ask questions such as:

  • What constitutes a genuinely European way of life?

  • How can European history be told beyond the framework of national histories?

  • How can positive visions of Europe counter narratives of crisis?

    Production of the proposed film project must not yet have commenced. However, expressions of interest from production companies, broadcasters, or other third-party partners are welcome.

    Please note that original scripts or project materials may be written in any language; however, all submitted materials must be accompanied by an English translation.

EUROPIA Pitch Award – Feature

Submissions should include:

  • A 2–3 page exposé for a feature film or series project

  • A logline

  • A Director’s Note with short bio-/filmography

EUROPIA Pitch Award – Short

Submissions should include:

  • A screenplay for a short film project

  • A logline

  • A Director’s Note with short bio-/filmography

    Prize: €2,500, donated by Forchhammer Stiftung

    The Short award is accompanied by an additional production grant of €7,500 for the realization of the film project. Eligible projects must be conceived as artistic and cultural works, with a clear emphasis on creative expression and cultural relevance rather than commercial objectives. This production support may be used independently or combined with other funding sources.

    Award recipients are required to attend the conference.

    Participation is open to all citizens of the European Union. No additional eligibility requirements apply.
