The EUROPIA Conference aims to explore and create narratives for European integration and cohesion. What is Europe besides its geographical or political characteristics? What are the historical roots of a united Europe before the founding of the EU? How can any European citizen contribute to foster the unity? What is a good European life? Do we need to define an outside to find out about our own identity?

Narratives are everywhere. They seem to come and go like the weather. Some are based on fakes, others on facts. But they only become important, when people start telling them to each other. This is why you can’t confront unfair narratives with facts. You rather have to come up with the better story.

The EUROPIA Conference assembles scientists, film makers and artists from all European regions to learn about each other and work on shared narratives. It will start small and grow while being repeated every year in another location in the EU. Those should not be the big cities but smaller towns with a rich historical heritage. Thus, these regions become part of a new unification process. The first conference will take place on November 14th, 2026 in Bamberg, Germany. Co-organizers are the Munich Representation of the EU Commission and the Center for Religion & Philosophy at LMU, Munich.
